I have an older computer and this wireless card works woderfully well. I recently had to go on a working trip and the connection in hot-spots and easy of use was amazing;Price was great too. I was looking to invest in a new system; however, this item has allowed me the opportunity to have the time to research more before I reinvest.
For this Belkin Notebook card (F5D7010 version 8) there aren't any drivers for Mac OS included and neither is is possible to download them anywhere. They just don't exist. If you are using a Mac, version 3 of this card is the only possible solution. But I don't know whether this version is still sold.
Great product and super easy to set up. Works everywhere right away. It's pretty much a plug and play. I feel like I got a great bargain for the price. I was worried that it may stick out of the laptop a little far and one of my dogs would snap it off or something but it's pretty compact. All in all I'm pleased and would buy from Belkin again.
The card I received is model F5D7010 v7. In my experience, model number refers to the hardware and the vesion refers to the software or drivers. I have had very good experiences wih other Belkin products which was one reason I bought this card. It had a slightly different shape than the picture and a red and grey label instead of the yellow and red. This card has 7 or 8 versions with different CHIPSETS. Belkin couldn't even confim which chipset is in the different versions. The chipset for this card is not detected by OS X and I found no drivers that would work on my Intel Tiger. Hope this helps you avoid the same mistake.
As soon as the computer detects the card.the computer hangs forever. I wanted a good network card for updating my Dell 630M running Vista Ultimate version on it. However, I had to purchase Addonics expresscard cardbus adapter for connecting the Belkin wireless G card. Despite 3 months of struggle trying to fix it, none of my attempts worked. It is no more than a piece of junk now.
